The Marvel Experience has finally arrived in Bangkok making it the third venue around the world to have hosted the Los Angeles based entertainment company. This is a totally new experience to come to Thailand and will have many people recalling their youth and Marvel’s Super Heroes from the famous comic strips.
The description of where “Epic fun awaits!” is very accurate giving visitors the opportunity to suit up as one of their favourite heroes in a fully interactive manner. The cast from the Marvel, both the heroes and the villains, are projected in 3D and even 4D – again this is a complete first, on this scale at least for Bangkok. This is only possible as the group has worked in conjunction with some of the top animators from around the world, most of whom are found in Hollywood.
For those of you who are perhaps unaware of the Marvel comics, they have created over 20 of the best-known characters including Spiderman, Hulk and Iron Man to give you just a small taste of what you can expect. Thanks to the technology that has been used, those who visit the venue can even embark on their very own mission.
The building has been carefully designed as a domed indoor venue that heightens the experience. It is this design that enables everything to come to life and create the standing 360-degree, 4D stereoscopic effect. In addition, using both augmented and virtual reality, a state-of-the-art ride is created that can even be transformed into multi-player gaming as well as simulation. It is perhaps this feature that makes it most appealing not only to children but adults as well. The whole experience lasts approximately two hours and is open from 9am with doors closing at midnight.
Of course, the Marvel Experience is currently separate from the main retail site at MEGA Bangna. However, major extensions are currently underway including works to Plot A and Plot D, which Comcon are conducting the quantity surveying on both, will be the main link bridge between the existing retail area and the new Marvel Experience. The new retail and commercial building will be 13,000 sqm in area and will be a 3-storey property.
The smaller Plot A will include a new Home Pro extension and Comcon will again be heavily involved in carrying out quantity surveying at the pre & post-contract stages. This site will also be home to the prestigious Wells International School. The whole expansion of MEGA Bangna is taking on the family emphasis and will take around 5 years to complete and Comcon Group are hopeful to be involved at all stages – something that we a naturally very proud of.
This whole project is testimony to how far Thailand has come in terms of entertainment venues in Asia. In the past, major projects such as this one may have opted for Kuala Lumpur or Singapore but thanks to the country’s significant investment in infrastructure, Thailand now has a very prominent role to play. It is hoped that this sort of entertainment complex will be the first of many and will become a tourist attraction in their own right.
The Marvel Experience is just one of the many projects at MEGA Bangna that Comcon has assisted with and indeed we are proud of the role that we play.
