Project Description
In accordance with the conclusion and recommendations from various studies, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) conducted a feasibility study on the MRT Line 6 in the year 2010/2011. The recommendations proposed by the feasibility study were approved by the Govt. of Bangladesh (GOB), which then requested the Govt. of Japan (GOJ) for ODA to construct MRT Line 6. The GOJ agreed to assist the GOB in constructing 20.1 km long MRT Line 6.
Soil improvement work involves construction of Sand Compaction Piles (SCP), installation of Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVD) and compaction by Dynamic Compaction (DC). Even before the actual soil improvement work starts, auxiliary works such as maintenance and protection of traffic, installation and maintenance of temporary fences, establishment of site office, testing of materials, public relation works, relocation and reinstatement of public properties etc. shall be carried out. Construction level will be prepared before the soil improvement work. During the preparation of construction level, works such as clearing and grubbing, removal of existing structures will be conducted. Embankment work will be completed in order to consolidate future settlement. Settlement during embankment construction and leaving period shall be monitored carefully. In addition, site area shall be protected from any obstructions coming from outside during the improvement work.
