Comcon Group assisting with Q Home to get Yangon on the map

Has Yangon got the potential to match Bangkok and become one of the world’s leading tourist and travel destinations? Would it appeal to the masses as an Expat location? Comcon Group have been working closely with one of Yangon’s leading developers on their latest project and for the outlook, the region really does seem to offer everything you need.

Q Home have been working on their latest project, Sky Suites for some 2 years now. This 22 storey, 155 unit project is located in the heart of the city, in the Yankin region, with spectacular views over the Shwedagon Pagoda and Lake Inya. This region is more the up market part of the city, away for the congested lower parts, closer to the river. Sky Suites sits on just over 2 Rai of freehold land, with a mixture of six units types ranging from 90 Sq.m studios upto 279 Sq.m 3 bed units. Other features include, gym, swimming pool, 2 floor basement car park and covered outdoor parking.

Comcon Group have been assigned as the consultant for Sky Suites, working closely with the owners from design aspects, to Quantity Surveying, assignment of contractors and overseeing the construction along with the developers team. The structure has been completed and the mock up showrooms finished this week, with a large buyer ceremony planned for later this month.

Yangon is somewhat Bangkok as I’d imagine it 30 years ago. There are some amazing shopping facilities, the hotels are second to none and the surroundings are similar to Bangkok lifestyle, but a little more hectic. The social scene isn’t as prominent as in Thailand. Mainly all bars, restaurants and social venues are part of the major hotels.  There are the odd few bars scattered around which have a good Expat clientele.

Back to Sky Suites and the developer has now set a schedule to complete the project in the next 12 months. Ninety per cent of all contractors have been assigned to their relevant scope of works, with minor areas such as landscaping and the hard standing designs to be completed. The developers have taken time, but immense astudy to ensure the project is finished and looks like it should be a part of this high end region. The façade design is spectacular and the interiors offer a more traditional finish to the more modern concepts applied here in Thailand.

Yangon could easily become one of the major regions for Expat living. The economy is strong. Living costs are cheap, but accommodation seems to be a little more expensive for rentals. Prices per Sq.m for freehold purchasing are on par with Thailand in the condominium market. Comcon Group visit Yangon once per month for review the Sky Suites project and so we will giving regular updates on the project and region, so watch this space.
